Meet Our Judge: A Message to the Exhibitors

LIZE EDLAND (Borscana, Sweden)

My name is Lize Edland and I live in Sweden with my husband Rickard Sellin. My parents moved here from Norway when I was a child. My parents did not want to have a dog, so I bought my first borzoi in 1988 when I moved to my own home. Which I never regretted!
My husband and I had our first litter in 1993 and since then we bred 38 litters and our kennel name is Borscana. We have exported borzoi to every continent and our champion rate is 50%. Borzoi is our passion and what our lives are about. The borzoi are great family members; wonderful show dogs and they have given us so much in life. Not to forget all the friends and acquaintances one makes all over the world, who shares the passion for borzoi or other breeds.
We have never bred any other breeds but we have owned Irish Wolfhound, Whippet and Shetland Sheepdog. Our “odd breed” at home is currently a wonderful super happy and sweet Chihuahua girl! I think it is very educational to have had other breeds; they all have their “specifics” and you also become more aware of the specifics of your own breed that way.
I became a licensed judge in 2023 and started judging officially in 2025. At this point I am licensed for Borzoi, Whippet, Irish Wolfhound, Greyhound and Deerhound and I have judged all these breeds a few times. I hope to be licensed for some more breeds by the end of the year. I judged the Swedish National Borzoi Specialty last year and I am invited to judge several borzoi specialties this year. I have so far this year judged the German Annual Borzoi Winner Show in April and the Norwegian Borzoi Club Specialty in May.
I am very honored to have been invited to your specialty and I look very much forward to meeting you, to see your dogs and Taujėnai Manor!
